HERAULT - Béziers

Some weeks ago an infamous local landmark - two very large stone phalli, in an Art Nouveau style, were destroyed. They were the pillars of an old wrought iron gateway, the entrance to a former brothel and, perhaps, should have been considered a part of the local heritage. They are to be replaced by a new 68,000€ monument - but this time it will be a stylised sculpture of a pair of rugby posts - "shame" - though I suppose "Rugby Posts" have a similar connotation !!!!!!
