Easter Eggs

Were traditionally made to celebrate the end of Lent, during which Christians were not allowed to eat the products of animals. There were so many eggs around at the end - hence the tradition of the "Easter Egg". They would be boiled wrapped in things like red onion skins, to create all sorts of different colours. This was long before the "Chocolate Easter Egg".
