Feu de Saint-Jean

The 24th. of June is St John's Day - celebratiing his birth.

A celebration taken over from some of the old Pagen Midsummer Festivities.

In the South of France it is known as the "Feu de Saint-Jean" - St John's Fire. A feast of jollity and eating, with a large bonfire in the centre. Part of the feasting is the young "bucks" jumping over the fire.

Here in the village of Cabrières it is just a small fire for the youngsters to have a go (Health & Safety !!!!)
