Canal du Midi. - the "Seuil de Naurouze"
The highest point on the Canal du Midi.
200 m above sea-level, is at the "Seuil de Naurouze", west of Castelnaudary. Water arrives, at the Partage des Eaux, from the 17th century reservoir at Saint-Ferréol in the Black Mountains, the inspiration of Pierre Paul Riquet, and is split into two parts. On the Right, at the Ecluse, it flows to Toulouse and the Atlantic and Left it descends to Carcassonne and the Mediteranean
